Acrylic on Canvas - Urania Series

My paintings in the series shown below were inspired and influenced by my dreams of a collection of alien asteroid-like worlds called Urania. Those worlds resembled fractal designs, and so I was also inspired by the universality of fractals, in particular those that resembled the shapes of mountain ranges and the jagged "waves" of the human heart on an EKG monitor. The very idea of exploring other worlds and wondering how they might be the same or different from my home planet has always been of interest to me, and in the end that is what impelled me to paint this series.

I have other series as well (see navigation links at left). I work in acrylic on canvas in sizes from 8" x 10" up to a maximum of about 48" x 72". I use gallery wrap canvases (stapled on back), some splined, from 3/4" to 1-1/2" thick. A few older pieces are on museum wrap canvas (stapled on sides). All paintings are unframed, fully varnished, discretely signed and dated on front, labeled on the back, are wired for hanging, and include a bill of sale.
