These are just a few of the many resources available to you when researching your family. They all contain a lot of information about your ancestors, and many of them are free.

National Archives – online or in person
State Archives – differ from state to state
City Archives – may also be in other archives
State Libraries – many catalogs now online
City Libraries - many catalogs now online, and inter-library loans
Bureau of Land Management (U.S.) – good land locater
Used Book Stores - alibris.com, thriftbooks.com, abebooks.com, ebay.com

Historical Societies for families, cities, states, etc.
